DIY: transform an old dresser into a planter

Many of you voted so here it is: the DIY to make your tiered planter from an old dresser. Whether you live in the countryside, in a house with garden, or you live in the city, an apartment with balcony or terrace, this Do It Yourself may interest you.
To make this DIY, here’s what you need:
- a chest of drawers
- sanding
- what to paint: brushes, rollers and paint the color of your choice
- a wood stapler
- a roll of transparent plastic sheeting of type 170g/m²
- a large PVC plastic sheet
- soil
- of plants
The stages of making your garden dresser:
Gather the material you need
Choose a location to make the tutorial: in your garden, on your terrace or on your balcony: anyway, start by extending the PVC plastic tarpaulin on the ground. It is a protective cover, to avoid any splashing of paint or other damage during the DIY.
Start by sanding the dresser: the objective here is to remove the varnish or the existing paint
Once the wood of the chest of drawers is exposed, you can paint it in the color of your choice.
Apply one or two coats depending on the final finish. You can also varnish the furniture. Some paints require the application of a primer: ask advice in the DIY store to be sure and certain of the procedure to follow according to the chosen paint. By the way, you can only paint the outside of the dresser, the interior will indeed be filled with earth.
Once your layers of paint dry and well dry, it is a question of placing the plastic sheet inside the drawers of the dresser.
To do this, cut pieces of tarpaulin large enough to cover the bottom as well as the edges of each drawer: then fix the tarpaulins in each drawer of the dresser with the wood stapler.
Fill each drawer with soil
Arrange your plants in the drawers starting with the bottom drawers: it’s over! All you have to do is install your beautiful chest of drawers in the desired place!
