We have taken for habit to reveal you some tips and advice dedicated especially to garden greenhouses. Finally it is not always very aesthetic but in reality it is very practical! An undeniable ally of the gardener, regardless of the level of gardening. What we like in garden greenhouses is the serenity of the place, the tranquility of the plants cared for because warm and pampered and above all, the multitude of possibilities that the place offers.

What is a garden greenhouse with buried tarpaulin?

As its name suggests, a garden greenhouse with buried tarpaulin is a greenhouse type tunnel installed on a structure in metal hoops, that is to say, semiarcs of a circle on which a transparent tarpaulin is fixed. The tarpaulin is preferably armed, type 400g/ m2, deemed tear-proof, 100% waterproof and rot-proof.

The tarpaulin is deliberately chosen wider than the length of the arches, about 2 additional meters. These extra centimeters will be used to anchor the tunnel clamp firmly and durably into the ground. When the structure is assembled, ties are dug along the entire length of the greenhouse and allow the long ends of the tarpaulin to be buried and covered with earth. For added safety, you can even add stones or cinder blocks to weigh everything down, before filling the ties.

Advantages of this buried garden structure

The anchorage is impeccable! The garden greenhouse with buried tarpaulin is particularly suitable for windy regions of France. If the weather is often accompanied by strong gusts of wind, then it’s best if the structure of your greenhouse is strong enough to withstand the storm.

You don’t want to find your broken greenhouse, partially gutted in your neighbor’s garden, do you?

Some drawbacks nevertheless

The buried tarpaulin does not raise the canvas to ventilate the interior of the greenhouse. To ventilate the structure, it will then be necessary to open the door or provide a tailor-made ventilation system, an expensive but essential device especially if your tunnel greenhouse has a large internal volume.

On the other hand, this arrangement is not suitable for occasional garden greenhouses, installed only for the time of one or two seasons.
