You have a home construction project, your very first project. Quickly, you will realize that even before starting the building, several major questions arise, especially at the level of structural work: foundations, sanitation, basement, but also roof and frame require all your attention.

Let’s look today at the choice of the configuration of your frame. The frame is a crucial element: it is the frame of your future home and the fundamental step that defines the strength and stability of the whole. The structure is made from an assembly of wooden and metal parts and concrete.

Once the skeleton of the frame is combined, the laying of the roof can begin.

There are several types of structures, of which two main models emerge: the traditional frame and the so-called «firmness» frame.

Traditional frame, presentation

The traditional frame is custom-made according to the dimensions of the house. Generally chosen for the renovation of old houses, this frame has the advantage of being able to realize and develop habitable attic.

Remember to ask the question when buying a property! Because if the frame is traditional type, then you will have the opportunity to save space and arrange a new additional step.

The traditional structure is generally composed of solid wood beams cut in the workshop and assembled directly on the site.

What is a firm frame?

Also called industrialized structures, trusses are models of lighter frames, because made from thinner pieces of wood and assembled according to a triangulation system. The parts, generally of standard size, allow a faster installation. Major disadvantage of this type of structure: although less expensive, the firm structure does not allow to develop the attic.
